2SP Brewing Co. "6th Anniversary Double Hazy"
16 fl. oz. can
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a hazy yellow gold to golden body beneath a full head of white foam that's holding pretty well. The aroma is typically hop-fruity with notes of orange, mango, papaya, and guava over a basic but sweetish golden malt base. The taste is slightly more complex but not by much. I'm gonna say there's some sweet nectarine there, and definitely syrupy lychee, as well as a good bit of dried herbs. I'm also going to toss in a touch of yuzu which isn't really saying much as that's mainly lemon, orange, and grapefruit except that there's a little bit of a zest and spiciness to it. It's mainly the lemon and spiciness that I'm thinking of. It's nicely balanced with a moderate bitterness that leaves it sweetish but still mostly dry in the finish. That yuzu citrus and spiciness lingers in the finish with some dried herbs and a touch of earthiness. The head has held up well to this point and I still have a solid, creamy surface covering that's about an eight of an inch thick, and it's left some nice, wide, 'crashing waves' of lace about the glass. I just had a burp and I think there's also just a tiny bit of gooseberry to it. Or is that just the lychee talking? OK, in the mouth it's medium bodied but it feels a little fuller because of all of the extra proteins. The carbonation is standard and it's gently crisp once warmed a bit. I think this is a very nice beer and I'm a little surprised that it didn't get more notice.
