With this beer, we were trying to execute the least malt forward Red IPA possible and we feel like we have achieved our goal. This is hopped intensely with Amarillo and Galaxy. Incredibly dank, pine, fresh grapefruit.

16 oz. can. Doesn't really pour like a red ale. Deep orange. Smells a little toasty, a bit more like a red ale. Grapefruit hops. Tastes of grapefruit hops. Sweet and bready maltiness. Low bitterness. Medium body. It's not bad. I think my palate is dead, though.

This can is admittedly almost 3 weeks old which is probably not as fresh as it should be but it is overall very enjoyable.
Pours a slightly hazy amber (more orange than red). Nice foamy white head with solid retention but it does fade to a ring after a few minutes. A bit of patchy lacing but not much (or anything like the absurd lacing on some of their other beers).
Nose big citrus hops with a nice bready malt note and hint of typical spice from a red IPA. Grapefruit is the biggest citrus note but there is a bit of dank grassiness present to. Not smack you in the face huge though.
Flavor follows but bitter hops are far more present than would be expected from the nose. Really nice balance here of sweet, bitter and some citrus notes. Not as dank on the palate as I expected. Lingering sweetness from the malt is nice on the finish. Definitely makes this feel pretty crushable.
Feel is relatively typical of the style too - full body, well rounded, a bit brash with a nice drying feel from the bittering hops. This is one of the more tightly carbonated beers I've had from them and it works really well to help lift this off the palate a bit.
I wasn't sure what to expect from these guys with how juicy most of their brews are - this is probably the most traditional brew I've had from them. They did a great job but I like some of their more adventurous offerings better.

Pours orange/copper/red from can into Veil Teku.. thin white head. Aroma of light caramel, grapefruit, pine, melon, passionfruit, peach... Flavor basically the same as aroma with restrained bitterness (believe it's 20 measured IBUs). The light malt flavor and the hops are in perfect balance here. After the malt flavors release themselves fromthe palate, the hop flavors really linger. Mouthfeel is medium and NE-like,similar to most Veil IPAs. Lower end of medium carbonation. Overall, definitely the best red IPA I have ever tasted. Not really my style of IPA, but I would drink this over any other red IPA I've had. Great Job. The Veil is really stepping up the IPA game. As good or better than all of the New England breweries making these popular IPAs, and putting out something new/different every week along with their flagship beers. They have not even been open for 2 months so I only expect these beers to get better. IMO New England brewers are going to need to be playing catch up really soon.

Without a doubt the best red ipa ive ever had (not a style i love). Great floral hop nose for this style, low malt and bitterness; however it maintains the flavor of a red ipa. Overall this does a great job of not being a bitter malt bomb that so many red ales are. Top notch

Poured on tap at the brewery in a teku, the beer is a hazy, muddled, orange-copper color with a foamy, filmy, white head with great lacing. Nose of roasted overtones, sweet caramel, hints of nut, and bitter hops character of pine pitch and grass. Flavors are rich and sweet forward, with a solid tropical fruit note, followed by sweet caramel, and a roasted backbone. Peach, pineapple, and melon balance the late push of hops bitterness. Light and smooth in mouth, with a sticky, bitter, resinous aftertaste highlighted by more tropical fruit. Slow, smooth, cloying finish, with a sweet and bitter linger. Tasty brew.
