Notes: Master Master Shredder Shredder is the double dry-hopped version of our beloved flagship IPA Master Shredder. This one came out insane! Probably our favorite Master Shredder variant yet. We know y'all are going to dig this one. Incredible aroma. Dank, fresh orange peel, grapefruit, slight onion(in a good way).

Poured from a 16oz can into a spieglau glass

Look: Opaque hazy peach juice. Thick white head.

Smell: Guava, passion fruit, mango, and bitter mango.

Taste: Exactly like the smell but with a finish of white onion and a kiss of wheat sweetness.

Feel: Dry, clean, light, no alcohol, soft carbonation.

Overall: Fine. The body is a bit light and I get that given the ABV but it would help from a slight bump up. A good beer but nothing to write home about.

Fresh cans from the brewery. Pours bright and pale with a medium head and good lace. Nose is fruity as you'd expect with distinct lime rind along with melon and a bit of pineapple. Taste is big for the ABV...they really nailed/maximized what they could do in a 5.5% beer here. I would have guessed easily a full percent higher. Mouthfeel is slightly thin compared to the flavor, but it is probably a little of a false impression considering it hits above its weight. Overall, great. I'd drink this any day.

From the bottom of the can: "10/14/19 10:05:03"

Appearance: When cracking open the can the beer it started to come out of the top so be careful when opening this. It has a beige appearance with a large white head with oversized bubbles intermixed with smaller ones. It has very good head retention and lacing.

Aroma: As soon as the beer was cracked open it had a ton of aroma. It smells strongly of peach skin, there is a nice scent of tangerine, and grapefruit.

Taste: There isn't a lot going on in the flavor department. There is a very light bit of white orange pith flavor and at times there is a very remote flavor of peach. It gets pretty grassy the more it is consumed.

Mouthfeel: It has a mild bitterness that is a bit more than the standard New England IPA and also lingers more on the palate. The body is light

Overall: It looks and smells fantastic but it doesn't have the flavor to back it up. The beer is overly grassy and is otherwise devoid of flavor. It was a disappointment to have such a build-up of good aroma and then be let down by a cliffhanger. It would work great as a candle. I was bummed out because I thought I struck gold with this beer and I only struck fool's gold. It's drinkable and if you bought a four-pack you can finish it easily enough because it's still a good beer that could be amazing if it tasted as good as it smelled. As a whole it is just another average attempt at the New England IPA style. I wouldn't buy it again but I wouldn't persuade anyone against trying it either. It's a fence sitter beer.

Was initially not a fan of the feel, thinking it should be a little more oaty. After realizing how low the ABV is, decided it actually has a nice mouth feel for the reativly low ABV for an 'IPA'

On tap at Mikkeller & Friends in Copenhagen.

Pours a hazy light orange with fine, soapy foam.

Smell is very tropical with big notes of mango, pineapple and some lime.

Taste starts tropically and juicy with plenty of lime, lemon and mango, and adds a soft hop bite and bitterness. Great balance and hugely drinkable.

Mouthfeel is medium, soft and well carbonated.

Overall, a great IPA that belies it's low ABV in both taste mouthfeel.

My first. Ever from The Veil and it did not disappoint. Color taste feel and smell are all superb. Heavy melon, and hemp flavors. It is put together in such a fantastic way that even though it's my first sample from The Veil it is clear why they have made a name for themselves. Look forward to more varieties and have to assume they will be just as good.

Poured a cloudy orange body with good head and has a dank, acidic, orange/citric aroma with some sweetness in there. Bitter, crisp, fuller body that is sticky and medium-filling with a crisp, almost sharp finish while having an underneath sweetness so not completely bitter, acidic, sharp/ hoppy. Good balance and the hops really come through so real enjoyable.

One of my favorites here. Has a distinct sweetness to it, unlike I've had in a hoppy beer. Somewhat grape juicy on the mouth with some creaminess. Very smooth and very delicious.

Poured at the Brewery in Teku glass on 7/11/17. Perhaps the best of the 3 IPAs sampled that evening and at a 5.5% ABV, one that you could have a few of back home.

Canned 6/26. Cloudy and foamy with thick lacing. Juicy danky hoppy with slightly citrus smell. Taste is gentler than the smell, slightly bitter. Easy sipper, but I'm thinking it could be a bit juicier for a double dry hopped.

Poured from a can into a Teku. Very hazy/medium turbid golden color with a one-finger white head. The foam settled slowly. Bright aroma: dank resin, berries, oranges, and wheat. The taste lived up to its billing. A glorious mix of grapefruit citrus, blueberries, weed, pine, and, yes, slight onion. Moderately bitter for an IPA with a fairly soft feel. I like it slightly better than the original.

16 oz. can dated 6/26/17. Poured into Behind the Veil glass.

L: 2F head with good retention, lots of lacing, and a cap and ring. Beer is a hazy amber.

S: Pineapple, grapefruit, orange. Light cracker malt. A touch of earthiness. Very nice.

T: Follows nose and mostly lives up to it. Finish is neutral and somewhat earthy.

F: Medium-ish body, light to medium carbonation. Good construction and balance.

O: Very good earthy IPA.

Look is dark and dirty orange juice. Cannot see anything through it. Nice finger of cream colored head.

Aroma is orange, grapefruit and dank. Also something lurking in the background i can't quite make out.

Taste follows nose. Orange , grapefruit and big dank .

Feel is creamy and lively. Carb is moderately high.

Overall a really nice beer especially for the flavor it packs at 5.5%.

Pours an entirely hazed yellow to orange color, with a medium sized white head, which maintains to coat the glass after collapsing to a fluffy layer of lacing.

Evokes a unique aroma composition, reminding me of using after shave before visiting a cocktail bar at the beach, only to realize that when you are heading out, it starts to rain. Flowery and fruity at first, while slowly evoking a wet grass freshness, which goes along with dried blueberries, mango jam and pestled lime. On top of that diverse fruitiness settles a nice whiff of rock sugar and passion fruit, creating a truly intriguing nose.

Very soft and light on the tongue with a lively carbonation, which turns a tad effervescent during the finish. Produces almost no lasting bitterness at all, at the same time the malts remain almost hidden, putting the spotlight entirely onto the juicy hops.

Tastes of lime pulp with a short, prickly and effervescent bitterness, which morphes into herbal, wet grass and a sudden juiciness. A smoothie-like impression evolves, defined by passion fruit, orange, blood orange and a late banana softness, wrapped up into white bread dough. Has a very light, almost aqueous midpalate, once adjusted to the hops, with just the slightest hint of lemon dryness among sweeter turning exotic fruits. Finishes calm with sugared sorbet and a fruit cake quality, remaining soft and bright on the tongue.

Very nice as for the hop defined flavors, while turning pretty light during the finish.

Cloudy orange gold with a massive foamy eggshell head. Some big chunky floaters that look like bread yeast settle to the bottom.

Nose is white pepper, carrot or parsnip, roasted potato skin, and wheat. Yes, it' very odd and savory.

Taste is herbal, vegetal, earthy, with a little weed-like chive blossom, and at first, seemingly no malt. Wheat contributes something funky, with some honey and clover as well. I don't know why but I didn't realize right away that this was a Wheat IPA. Now that I do, the flavor and aroma profile make much more sense and are more enjoyable. When you get these attributes in a regular IPA it seems like something is off and you aren't sure if it's gone bad. But knowing it is wheat that is contributing to the unique flavors makes things all better.

Feel is a little tang, and a little bitter, with a dry finish.

This beer pours a very hazy golden orange with a 2 finger, foamy white head that reduces to a half finger cap that sticks around for the entire beer. There are some chunks of webbed lacing as well.

Smell is the definition of a juice bomb. Orange, grapefruit, mango, pineapple and dank citrus pith all explode out of the glass.

Taste is the same. I've drank some of the softest and juiciest beers around, and all of them have a little bite on the finish, but this one doesn't. It is literally like drinking a glass of carbonated juice start to finish with not even a trace of percievable bitterness.

Feel is sooo soft and juicy with moderate carbonation.

Overall this beer is excellent. Definition of a juice bomb. I prefer a little bitterness on the back end of my IPAs, so I guess that is my only knock, but still incredible. A lot of breweries are trying to copy the TH style, but honestly in a blind taste test this would fit right in.

EDIT: This can is 3 weeks old on the nose. After reading some of the other reviews I don't pick up on bitterness or green earthy onion at all. I know Grimm recommends drinking their beers at 3 weeks for maximum juiciness, maybe The Veil is the same. Because this beer is the absolute definition of a juice box to me.

From a super fresh, 4-day-old tallboy (dated 7/12/16), pours a slightly hazy orange. Big 2-finger off-white head leaves good lacing. Smell and taste show lots of lime zest and some slightly sweaty, oniony dank. Also orange and grapefruit peel. Taste has some of the lemony tartness I associate with wheat beers, but that's the extent of the wheat aspect for me. Grapefruit pith bitterness in the finish with a little pine resin as well. Feel is substantial for the ABV. Overall a delicious and unique beer. Crazy amounts of hop flavor for 5.5%. Nicely done.

I haven't had the base beer yet, but MMSS packs quite a punch for a 5.5% beer. Grapefruit and orange up front, with a piney, dry finish. I could drink quite a few of these for sure.

Pours hazy yellow/orange with fluffy white head. BIG BIG BIG aroma of oranges, grapefruit, mango, pineapple, some other tropical fruits in there, wheat and barley. I get a little more of the "onion" aroma in MMSS also.. in a good way. Can't get over the smell of this beer. EXCELLENT! Flavor follows the aroma with really awesome citrus notes and low bitterness. The feel is med-light with med-low carbonation. EXTREMELY Intense hopping for a beer of this size. Regular Master Shredder is not my favorite beer from the Veil.. I am more of a DIPA guy, but MMSS is in a whole other category. Excellent beer.

Appearance: pours a nice orange with deep straw hues. a finger or two of a white head with good retention. leaves behind a big frothy lacing. completely hazy and opaque.

Smell: strong citrus, strong resin hop character. more citrus with grapefruit this time. some tropical fruit comes in. some weak maltiness comes through.

Taste: opens with some strong hoppiness. lots of grapefruit, orange juice, more tropical fruit. some citrus zest. really low key malt character. bready and slightly musty wheat.

Mouthfeel: a little bit of softness. good moderate bitterness. low carb as per Veil beers but it is nice with the beer.

Overall: a great slight variation on an already great beer. I wish they would stick to dry hopped variations rather than fruited versions. I love the pure hop bite that the double dry hopping adds to the beer. all the great flavors with a little bit of an extra pure hop resin character.

6/14/2016 canning.

This double dry hopped version of their flagship is insane. It pours essentially the color of simply orange juice. Nose is huge but the feel is the winner here. Great, full flavored IPA with a nice touch of sweetness, low bitterness for sure. It's that does of dry hops that takes it to the next level. This is a fantastic beer I'd definitely seek out from them again. One thing I would also note - this on fell off a lot faster than other beers of theirs. One week on (kept cold from brewery to face) and it was not the same beer. Different color, lots of fall off on the nose with the maltier notes coming through, juicier feel turning a bit more bitter. Still fantastic beer - but it's way better super fresh so grain of salt with dates on the reviews in terms of freshness.
