A: Pours an opaque murky thick slightly chunky viscous jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate dark chestnut brown + amber + dark golden yellow + deep mahogany colored highlights.. The beer has a three finger tall large bubbles sudsy foamy dark tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass (reminds me of the head you get when making a root beer float when the ice cream combines with the soda). Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of sweet milk chocolate + peanuts + nougat + peanut butter + toffee over the top of moderate aromas of roasted + chocolate + caramel malts with moderate to heavy amounts of lactose + candy bar sweetness.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of roasted + chocolate + caramel malts with moderate to heavy amounts of lactose + candy bar sweetness. That is followed by strong flavors of sweet milk chocolate + peanuts + nougat + peanut butter + toffee. No perceptible hop presence and no bitterness detected with the sweet milk chocolate candy bar flavors lingering well through the finish.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Some slightly chunky bits of candy near the bottom of the can but otherwise smooth.

O; Drinks fairly easily with well hidden alcohol and a slightly lighter than expected mouthfeel but damn this beer is sweet, overly so. Enjoyable if you enjoy traditional American Halloween candy bars but we aware that it is even sweeter than the candy bars on their own are… That being said you can definitely taste and smell the different candies (Snickers, Peanut Butter cups, and toffee bar).

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Sweeter than Southern Tier creme brulee. I became a diabetic after drinking this.

From tasting notes 11/08/18
Had on-tap at The Veil in Richmond, VA

Appearance - Served up 12oz into a teku. Black in color with a barren surface. No lacing, but none expected

Smell - Chocolate and peanut butter are strong on the nose, but also detected a bit of astringency.

Taste - Follows the nose. Really tasty starting out with the chocolate and peanut butter blending nicely, and then a touch of roast adds some balance. Finish adds some astringency, which doesn't vibe well with the overall flavor profile.

Mouthfeel - Full bodied with fair carbonation. Creamy and smooth. Drinks nicely, then a slightly dry finish.

Overall - Overall a pretty darn good desert beer. Could be world class but for that astringent bite in the finish.

I had this when it was first released and the flavors were almost overwhelming. I've waited now for a few months, and the nose and intensity is still there, albeit subdued.

The head pour on this is one of the darkest I've ever seen -- dark brown with bubbles that disappear quickly. Oily, jet black, and smells like sticking your head into a jumbo bag of Halloween candy bars. The taste is something to behold as it is a liquid form of chocolate candy bars. It's sweet, sweet, sweet and despite it's heavy appearance and sweetness, I can actually drink most of the can without wincing. Soft, puffy mouthfeel. Probably causes pancreatic cancer.

From a 16oz can, dated 10/30/18. Took out of the fridge, let sit for about twenty minutes, and served in a tulip.

Pours like motor oil, a thick-appearing, totally lifeless glass of molasses-like liquid. No head at all, just a sort of oily sheen.

Mostly smells like a Snickers bar. Predominantly sweet milk chocolate with peanuts, marshmallow, graham cracker and brown sugar.

Tastes pretty much like all of your Halloween candy opened as fast as you can and stuffed in your mouth one after another. Finishes with graham cracker and molasses.

Feel is thick, slick, smooth and creamy. Hefty bodied with barely any carbonation.

Sweet merciful Dionysus, that was one sweet, thick, sybaritic experience! Simultaneously horrifying and wonderful, I was appalled by what must be happening with my blood sugar levels while becoming so aroused that I had to go change my underwear.
