The beer pours a purple and creamy head that dissipates very quickly while the beer itself is an opaque purple red color that looks very nice. It looks like raspberry juice.
The smell is pretty good. It has dominant fruity smell consisting of lightly tart dark cherry mixed with an oat sweetness and a light milk sweetness to it. The hop bitterness comes in at the end but is very light and is a bitter orange, which works well with the other notes.
The taste is mostly the same as the smell. The tart and sour dark cherries come up front and then tempered by a sweet honey wheat and milky oat. The hop is a bit more intense but still comes out as a bitter orange with a lemon finish.
The feel is good. It has a light body and finishes fairly dry but with a little bit of stickiness to it. The body is fairly viscous with what feels like a fruit puree to it.
Overall, a fairly good sour DIPA worth trying and goes well with the hot summer.

On tap at The Veil Brewing in Richmond, VA. This is a collaboration with Hudson Valley Brewery.
This smells like sweet and sour cherries, stone fruit, grape, lemon, lactose, and citrusy hops.
This tastes basically and essentially like a HVB beer, and that works for me. The cherry character is thick and pleasant, with only a touch of apricot, and some nice vanilla type flavors. As expected, it’s only mildly sour.
This is thick and creamy, with a good level of drinkability.
This is really quite nice. It certainly leans firmly in the the HVB camp, and that’s not a bad thing.
