Pours jet black with a nice two finger tan frothy head. The smell of roasted malt on the nose is dominant. Lesser smell of citrus is in background. The roasted malt and citrus transcends into the taste. Definitely thick roasted malt forward that leads to a citrus/earthy hoppy ending. This brew definitely gives a full roasted malt hoppy mouthcoating.
Overall, this brew is very creative. Looks like stout, initially tastes like a stout, but in the end it’s a black cascadian tipa with great amount of hops. It’s definitely traditional in the sense of roasted malt forward, but it is so extremely thick and full it tricks the senses until the ending. While black cascadian beers aren’t for everyone, this is surely one you must experience.
