The beer pours a very little dark brown head that dissipates very quickly. The beer itself is a dark chocolate black with a slightly viscous texture to it.
The smell is interesting. It starts with a strong wild cherry that is followed by a deliciously sweet mix of caramel and chocolate with a light hint of coconut. There is also a light bourbon note in the finish.
The taste is a bit different but still good. It starts off with more of the different notes coming out at roughly the same time. The sweet chocolate and caramel mix come out with a sweeter red cherry note alongside the more sour wild cherry note. The two different cherry notes coming out at the same time creates a really interesting contrast between the two that works. The bourbon comes out in the finish to make the chocolate/caramel taste even sweeter.
The feel is good. It has a medium body and thin texture that resembles chocolate milk and a light acidic feel in the finish.
Overall, a good beer and a very interesting take on the style. I'd definitely recommend it to those who realize this isn't a crazy wild ale or a pure stout.

You have to know what you're getting here to enjoy it. I think the Black Forest approach to this beer worked and definitely enjoyed it. Needless to say, it's not for everyone
