16oz can poured into a tulip
A- pours a hazy golden orange with a one-finger foamy white head that has good retention
S- tangerine, mango, pineapple, red berries
T- zesty bitter citrus up front gives notes of tangerine and grapefruit zest. Mid-palate gives some tropical mango and red berries. The finish gives bitter resinous pine with more citrus on the linger
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp finish

Another modern American IPA has entered a clear glass liter mug, virtue of emptying a pint can into it. The brew has all the appearance traits of a heavily oats and/or wheat infused ale. The color is dull apricot-amber and it approaches murky. Surprisingly, there's very little head, it's more like an off-white film. The aroma notes are reminiscent of honeymelon and pineapple, with a little earthy kick. Its taste is muddled by the oats, as can often happen. The fruity aspect of its bouquet is largely lost and the earthy hop bite becomes the dominant taste. That's the good thing, the funky bitter hop bite. But, as often happens nowadays, there's no other layer, no counterbalance. When that's all there is, a brew just isn't going to be great, even with some excellent hopping. As for some other incidentals, there was no glass lacing and along with muddling the flavor, the oats give this a slightly annoying dry stickiness. Overall, it's drinkable, but there's nothing outstanding here.

Canned 8/17/23 (1.5 months ago)
Appearance: Pours a mostly hazy (10% clarity) medium to bright orange-golden color with a strong white head. SRM of 7. (4.00)
Aroma: Strong aromas of oranges, tangerine, tropical pineapple, some coconut, berries and melon. (4.25)
Flavor: Strong and juicy flavors of orange citrus, pineapple, and coconut and mango. Melon and berries and tropical fruit underneath. Slightly sweet. (4.00)
Feel: Medium bodied, strong carbonation, balanced. (4.00)
Compared to The Veil Catboy's New Friend 10/2023: Pours lighter, stronger head. Milder aromas. More balanced orange, pineapple, coconut, mango, melon, berries. Less dank and herbal pine and citrus rind with gasoline. More balanced. Winner: New Mirage
Overall: New Mirage was pretty impressive and drinks as expected. Nice combo of hops and flavors, but a little too many hop combinations to nail down any particular flavors. I sort of like when there are fewer hops so certain flavors stand out. Nevertheless it drinks extremely well and enjoyable. (Rating: 4.06+)
