Love anything from The Veil as I was lucky enough to get my hands on this via a trade recently. This was a typical Imperial IPA that was true to form as the body and heft were here although this was a bit lacking in taste. It went down easily, although a bit anonymously, as I kept waiting for it to turn on as it warmed up in my pint glass.
This had a hazy, golden hue to it with a fair amount of head topping it off. Not a lot of lacing was left behind as there were scattered, rocky bits of it but nothing that would resemble a ring. Some earthiness and grape were in the muted nose as the taste was full of that, gooseberry, and a bit of wheat. The body and carbonation were fine but I couldn't quite pinpoint this down, no matter how much time I spent with it.
Not a lot of booze here and what was present only showed up a bit as I finished it up. No date was printed on the bottom of the can but this felt and tasted fresh, with plenty of dankness, spelt, and wheat lingering on the palate and on my lips after this was gone. Nuanced like wine and a hair dry, this was fine for a change but not the first Imperial IPA that I'd reach for, as the muted label reflected the liquid inside the can. Still glad to get my hands on this, as none of their offerings are available in this neck of the woods!
