Deep, dark brown pour, thick and viscous; opaque; initial fizzy dark brown head that quickly dissipates and vanishes. Very rich aroma; dark chocolate with roasted and charred grains; subliminal booziness. Full on rich flavor; chocolate syrup and fudge; brownies; low-key alcohol presence in the background; hints of raspberry and strawberry esters. Heavy, viscous, chewy, and oily mouthfeel; incredible liquid density; sticky; minimal whiskey warmth.

The beer is not much to look at, but get into the other aspects, and this one is phenomenal. I'm surprised the 41 months of bourbon barrel aging isn't more prominent in the smell, taste, and mouthfeel, yet it is certainly noticeable yet in a very mellow manner. Dense and alluring on many levels.

Appearance: Pours as thick as motor oil with the black liquid covered by a cinnamon-like film; thickly coats the chalice, leaving some speckles behind

Smell: Powerful molasses, Bourbon, oak and vanilla aromatics

Taste: Molasses and Bourbon forward with plenty of roast, oak, dark chocolate and vanilla in the mix; somewhat boozy but quite sweet, in the finish

Mouthfeel: Almost as thick as molasses; no carbonation

Overall: A bit too sweet and boozy for my palate but it shows off the Willett barrels very nicely

Another stout from this brewery; the first few have been delicious, so I’m assuming the 500ML of liquid will match that. Or exceed it.

The pour is a black harder than a jilted woman’s heart (oh, the tales I could spin!). The nose is bourbon & sweet Kenyan sin.

Whangdoodle – Willett Barrel Aged brings a wicked, singeing bite of bourbon up front. The bourbon dries out everything behind it which is an odd counterpoint to the malty sweetness. Mid-palate brings a boozy rush & a weird, almost coconut-like foam on the top (?). Sugar-heavy, molasses. Really enjoyed the first half, but this is wearing on my palate.

Tasty. Filling. Very good. But holy hell, if there was ever an argument for 5.6 oz. cans, this is it.
