Wheatwine aged in Willett Bourbon barrels for 40 months (19 months longer than the original release). The extended aging contributes to a polished, refined expression of the style.

Look - Pours a dark brownish red color with no head.
Smell - Smells of bourbon and wheatwine.
Taste - Tastes of bourbon and wheatwine. The bourbon is good, but I prefer a bit less.
Feel - Fairly easy drinking for a 17%ABV beer, though the bourbon seems a bit strong to me.
Overall - Not a bad wheatwine, and I think others who really like bourbon will enjoy this more than me.

Clear, dark brown pour, mahogany toned in the glass, nearly opaque; thin, light khaki head, lasting. Deep, rich, dark malt and grain scent; figs and dates; a touch of sweet chewing tobacco. Divine taste; rich, barleywine-like base with a bold yet refined and balanced bourbon edge; dried dark pitted fruits with a dash of star anise spiciness; black licorice. Heavy body; rich residual sugar presence; sharp and warming alcohol presence.
This gorgeous beer has incredible flavor, and despite it's high ABV, is actually quite drinkable (perhaps better to say 'sippable'). The barrel aging process shows expert crafstmanship. Bold and beautiful!

Way too hot. Alcohol presence masks flavors and overwhelms the palate
