This was a very nice brown ale. Smooth not bitter. Nice after taste. I would recommend.

Open Road is crystal clear and a deep, leathery brown colored ale. The head is packed, cream colored, and decently lasting.
Rich, malty aromas are the first thing I notice. Open Road's nose is full of chocolate, combined with nuttiness. Leather and damp earth give this brown ale's nose depth, helping it from skewing overly sweet. Cocoa, nuts, and the rest combine seamlessly into a rich malty whole before leading into a gentle finish that gives me peppery hops.
Open Road is a smooth, full bodied brown ale. Up front sweetness is a combination of caramel and cocoa powder. The center is rounded, sweet, and definitely malty but with a gentle toasted quality, helping keep it from being overly sweet. Flavors of tobacco and damp earth help add depth of flavor and overall structure to Open Road's flavor profile. As with the nose earthy, peppery European hops give a notable bitter finish.
This beer is rich and flavorful, smooth, and drinkable. The flavors and aromas are all nicely balanced, each element leading nicely into the next. I particularly enjoy how dryness combine with flavors of tobacco and damp earth, keeping the whole flavor from being really sweet. It gives the beer a more-ish quality that make me want to go for that next sip.

Pours with a nice creamy mocha head, beer is a dark brown colour.

The aroma is full up with cocoa and huge hits of nuttiness, The nutty maltiness is the predominant aroma here. Fantastic and as good an aroma for a brown ale as I've come across. There's a bit of cardboardiness, but I think it's just the lactose malt notes mixing with the grassy hops.

Taste is a malty, nutty, chocolate mix. The hops also come in at the end and add a bit of grassiness and bitterness. Medium mouthfeel. About as good a brown ale as you'll find.

Chocolate aftertaste, along with more of than nut flavour. Dusty cocoa and some chocolate milk overtones.

Highly drinkable. Well crafted.

Poured from my Canadian Growler into a snifter
L- Cloudy, nutty brown with a pumpkin tinge and an off white head. Very little lacing and low carbonation.
S- Chocolate, black currant, espresso, fresh herbs, caramel, hops, and orange citrus.
T- Same as smell but with a refreshing, upfront hoppiness.
F- Light-medium body with a lingering hops dryness and an espresso and citrus after taste.
O- Decently complex beer although I only filled my growler with it because it was the darkest thing the liquor store had on tap.

355ml can poured into tulip 26/8/16

A not quite brown, has a maroon glow when held to the light, finger of crown foam hangs around for a couple sips leaving a few spots of lace

S earthy, leafy, cocoa powder, cherry cola, faintly nutty, raisins and plums, hard toffee, a fair bit going on

T a little coffee added to the nose, some leafy, herbal hops, still has some nice earthy notes, not bad at all

M medium bodied, bubbles cream it up, a little slick on the palate, chocolate and coffee linger

O solid brown ale start to finish, very drinkable and I'm not going to have any problems with the other 5 in the 6er

I've been pretty happy with what I've had from these guys and this is a respectable brown ale to add to their lineup.
