From BeerAdvocate magazine #134 (Spring 2019).
Brewed for the hip hop duo Run the Jewels (runthejewels.beer), and named after one of their songs, “Down,” one of many hazy offerings form Skid Row’s Mumford Brewing, is hopped with Galaxy and Motueka. Poured from the can it’s milky-pale amber and hazy with a thin lace. Soft aromas of herbs and nectarines with minty suggestions lead the way. On the palate, the mouthfeel is creamy and slightly chewy, with a prickly carbonation. Tropical, fruity, and juicy with orange, cantaloupe, pine, and apple flavors joined by bready malts. The finish goes a bit dry and crackery with lingering hoppy and fruity notes. Alcohol is definitely noticeable as the beer warms, but it’s not overwhelmingly boozy. Overall, this NEIPA is damn good and very crushable for 9 percent. And I’d be down for another one.
