a full flavored and well refined modern lager here, dry hopped but not to the extent of the india pale lager level, its drinkable and approachable but also quite distinct, and was for me easily the best of the three beers we had in here, a neat little spot in downtown tacoma making some pretty interesting beers. this is a richer shade of golden, approaching brass, nice and clear from the tap here with just an average white head on it that dissipates quickly. i reckon cashmere hops are pretty evident in the aroma of this one, fresh and distinctive, lemon and fresh herbal notes, some minerals from the water coming through and highlighting a tropical element in the hops, mango and even fleshy coconut, a nice combination of smells in an easy drinking lager. the flavor is a touch muted compared to the nose on the hops, but the yeast makes up for it. its not quite european to me, but is crackery and can be easily appreciated in here as a lager strain, even if this isnt super crisp at the end, its contribution is more in flavor than in texture, and i am fine with that, as the hops are kind of allowed to linger a little bit at the swallow, not sweet or underdone or anything. carbonation is a little less than fully peppy, but this moves along well enough. maybe not the most robustly hoppy lager, but its drinkable and approachable and nicely proportioned. well done.
