a slightly fuller bodied lager here, and a little more malty than i was expecting it to be, i thought i was looking at a helles or a pale lager, especially given the name, but this is a bit more substantial than that, although still light enough to pound, not anywhere near a vienna lager or anything. at first i am wishing for a more generic slammer, its a hot day and i need a beer, but as i drink it, i find myself enjoying it being a little more nuanced and robust. a light toasted element to the malt profile, and that old world almost german dustiness to the grain, no real sweetness to it, but a lot more character than a lot of these have. there is also some flavor to the lager yeast, which is old worldy as well, and even though the beer is on the dry side, i think we sacrifice some crispness and cleanness and thus refreshment capacity because of these elements being so flavorful in the mix. its a worthwhile tradeoff, but maybe not on a hot summer day. carbonation is also a little light, so as this warms it becomes a little less enjoyable. i like a beer where i can taste and appreciate all the elements, and the balance and depth of flavor here is nice for the style. the execution could use a little fine tuning. i hope to revisit this one in the fall when a more robust lager is appropriate. i enjoyed this and their ipa in a recent session, and will look for more of their beers.

It took me awhile to figure out the product name was really an imaginative use of the word "pounder" but, after opening the can, it didn't take long for me to realize that this was a well-brewed Lager. I don't recall seeing any Lagers from Bldg. 8 on retail shelves previously so I hope this one becomes a part of their regular portfolio of products. Very easy drinking yet not lacking in body or taste. Should be a welcome product for any season of the year and, for me, definitely worthy of a repurchase.

I believe this is a clever way to say pounder... either way great to see more local lagers made by good breweries.
A- Pours from the tallboy into a tulip with a clear, sparkling golden body. The head is frothy rising to a finger high before dying out to a wide ring around the edges and a few small islands and pillows floating in the middle. A few small sheets of lacing.
S- Pilsner and base pale grains come to mind suggesting a light sweetness, cereal, cracker and bready hints. The ferment at this stage comes off as impressively clean allowing herbal, spicy and floral hops to shine.
T- Plays off of the aroma very well with the same formula of balanced and flavorful grains, fresh hops, dryness and a very clean and pleasant lager fermentation. Pils base grain, cereal and bread open up for spicy and heavily herbal hops that bring a light bitterness. Basically dry and there is a hint of pale fruit but it is extremely secondary and doesn't affect the great balance of the yeast, malts and hops.
MF- Puffy and slightly creamy consistency to the medium bodied lager. A medium level of carbonation comes off as just a bit low, maybe a canning issue. Ends with an herbal hoppy bitterness.
Pounder of a lager. A good lager starts with a clean and crisp base from the lager yeast and this one definitely excels there allowing the hops to shine cleanly and the grains to provide a nice counterpoint with plenty of flavor.

16 oz can into modern pub glass. No date.
Look is nice clean golden yellow. Smell is balanced hops and malts, typical lager. Taste follows nose with nice little sweetness in it. Feel is light. Overall a very nice lager that is easy to drink. Would drink again.
