Hazy brown-amber color. Very little head that quickly dropped down to a patchy skiff with some larger bubbles around the edge. Medium-high flow of fine bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. No lacing.
Caramel, green grape, and musty yeast scents dominate. There is a mild malt. Swirling the glass kicks up a little funky scent, close to a light barnyard, and some more distinct grape.
Mostly tart and funky, with a distinct bitter. Some green grape and white wine fruit flavors show up a moment later. Different variations of funk take their turn as it warms up. The aftertaste starts off with a tart grape/wine flavor and then turns to some bitter flavors. Tastewise this is like a bitter saison with some grape added.
Has a nice creamy feel even before much has converted to foam. Keeps the cream feel going even as the foam collapses. Medium body.
Not entirely sure on the style, so I'm calling it a Saison. Interesting but somehow it seems like it is trying too hard. This could have been a nice saison without the addition of the grape must. It also tastes more bitter than the listed 26 IBUs. The bitter flavors seem to be coming from more than just the hops. The grape must is a little too bright. Pretty much the only flavor you are not supposed to taste in wine is "grape", and this is very distinctly grape. Its almost as if the wine must had no fermentation at all. It was worth trying, but it won't make it into regular rotation at my home.
