Cloudy orange-gold color. Poured a short head that collapsed to a patchy skiff after two minutes. Too cloudy to see the carbonation level. Left large strings and patches of lace.
Light orange scent with some yeast funk and a light horse blanket. The orange got more distinct after a couple of minutes sitting in the glass. Slightly sweet that merges well with the orange. Very light malt. Swirling the glass kicked up a sharper horse blanket and stronger orange. The horse blanket died down after a few seconds.
Way stronger bitters than expected from the scent. Hard to tell if the bitters are from hops or from orange pith. The label says 20 IBU, but it seems much stronger than that. The orange is very light, and dances around as it warms up. Medium-mild horse blanket that does not seem too strong only because the bitters have taken over. Light malt. The aftertaste is a strong but more balanced bitter. This bitter seems to come from a blend of sources that make it less sharp. The horse blanket shows up with a light orange.
Mild tongue tingling. Starts as a fine bubbled foam but the bubbles quickly combine to large bubbles. Medium-light body.
I'm not sure what style this is. Seems much more like an IPA or NEIPA base than Kölsch. In the end I went with Fruit and Field. I would reduce the bitters, and since the bitters were lower, then the horse blanket would need to be drastically reduced. My wife declared this as something she would drink on a regular basis.
