Canned on 9/12/19
Pours a dense jet black body capped with just over a finger of tight khaki foam; steady head retention yields a thin veil of cap, a moderate, frothy collar, and some isolated strands of webby lacing.
Aroma features a subdued, silky coconut interwoven in hearty, chocolate malts coursing through the bouquet; touches of earthy cocoa and hints of creamy vanilla bean are strung together via a flowing, unobtrusive alcohol presence on the back end.
Taste shows dark chocolate and earthy cherry upfront as a rounded, malty sweetness highlighting coconut and vanilla comes to form over the mid-palate; coconut lingers alongside waves of milk chocolate into the finish.
Mouthfeel features a body on the lighter side of thick and a subtle, low carbonation; oily and slick texture developing over the mid-palate into a mild malty char flowing into sticky finish with the faintest suggestion of bitterness in the background.
Even with nearly 9 months in the can (I can only imagine) largely subduing the coconut, this brew remains decadent and yet just shy of overbearing; an effective one-trick pony offering coconut indulgence atop a steady malt base.

16oz can, snifter glass. Outstanding coconut imperial stout. Massive coconut, so much authentic coconut but without any sort of banana boat or suntan lotion to it. Full bodied, good carbonation, plenty of chocolate fudge on the background also. Substantially well executed coconut imperial stout.
