Firecracker, our newest entry in the cactus catalog, is a Bourbon Barrel fan's dream. A blend of 3-year-old, 2-year-old, & 1-year-old barrels. This delicious Imperial Stout is packed with true American Whiskey notes: white oak, a hint of rich vanilla & deep flavors of caramelized sugar. The mix of chocolate malts make this particular blend a rich & memorable stout reminiscent of a decadent, but strong, cocktail.

Pours a viscous, motor-oil black body topped with a finger of rich, mocha foam; decent head retention leaves a frothy haze of paper-thin cap, a moderate, creamy collar, and a modest array of webby lacing spread around the walls of the glass.
Aroma brings rich dark chocolate fudge edged with black licorice candy subtleties; a clean char proceeds to fresh oak and trailing whiskey as burnt vanilla and shades of oaky honey linger through the back end of the bouquet.
Taste shows toasted caramel cuts with dark cacao nibs as hints of smoke progress through the mid-palate, leaving residual pipe tobacco and a tinge of anise on a back end peaking to a roasty malt char.
Mouthfeel presents a medium-full body and lower-end carbonation, a soft prickle ceding to a moderate bitterness past the mid-palate, where creamy, silky textures on the back end fade to a moderately dry finish.
A cohesive blend steadied through a more traditional roast/malt profile, with bittersweetness firmly in the backdrop as subtle oak feeds into the waves of near-smoky char; a fairly straightforward, quality representation of barrel-aged/non-BA strong ale blending.
