Diamond Cholla is a gem of a beer. A curated blend of well-aged braggot, traditional American barleywine and and a base of imperial stout all aged in fresh, American Bourbon Barrels. with notes of caramelized sugar, American oak and hints of mature whiskey. Big flavors of rich, chocolate syrup conjure memories of simpler times.

Pours a pitch-mahogany body topped with multiple fingers of rocky, pale hazelnut foam; great head retention yields a half-finger of creamy cap, a large, frothy collar, and splotches of webby lacing spread sporadically across the walls of the glass.
Aroma brings toffee and wispy caramel with tinges of toasted brown bread upfront, expanding to richer cocoa brittle subtleties as the barrel imbues toasted brown sugar and more decadent suggestions of jet-puffed marshmallow and fruity honey.
Taste finds milk cocoa powder shrouding subtler tones of plum and blueberry esters, with oaky honey coating the quiet, dark chocolate roast of the mid-palate into tinges of brûléed toffee and brown sugar on the back end.
Mouthfeel offers a body on the lighter end of medium along with a rounded, moderate-high carbonation; silky roast is attenuated with ease over the mid-palate, predominantly creamy into the back end as the finish is washed in minimal grit and delicate warmth.
Another skilled blend from this brewery produces a relaxed revelation of nuance over time, with the braggot seeing a deft integration of honey sweetness and dark fruit undertones tied to a soft, whiskey-tinged roast; honey-influenced strong ales continue to be a sweet spot for Wren House.
