Pours a dark mahogany brown and settles nearly black in the glass with a dense, creamy tan colored head that provides a decent amount of lacing. Beautiful schwarzbier.
The nose is rife with roasty malt notes, including coffee and wheat toast, as well as a bit of dark chocolate that resides in the background.
The roasty coffee flavor is up front and slightly bitter, which works REALLY well in this dark lager, with the wheat toast and dark chocolate mid-palate and a bit of grass at the back of the palate, coasting into a crushingly crisp finish.
This is one of the better schwarzbiers I’ve had - maybe the best. World class stuff.

16oz can served in a snulip. Packaged 10/25/23.
Pours black with a generous dark tan head, lots of active carbonation. Dark enough that it looks opaque. Smell is dark roast coffee and singed chocolate, burnt toast, cooked dates. Smells rich and nice.
Taste is gorgeous. Wow. I think this might be my ideal schwarzbier. Those nearly-harsh-sounding flavors I describe in the aroma (singed chocolate, burnt toast, dark roast coffee) are softened just to the point where the edges don't cut your fingers off, but they're clearly still not for children. There's a grainy sweetness that comes in to balance things out a bit, I'd almost call it an oat milk sort of flavor.
Mouthfeel is thicker and richer than I would expect for the style and the abv, but in line with the richness of flavor -- either would seem out of place without the other. Overall, this is a really, really good beer.
