Very enjoyable beer to drink. I remarked to my wife that I could drink this all night long. Alas, wedon't get it here in Illinois, except through the Costco Advent calendar.

Pours a super cloudy, completely opaque dark burnt orange color. Lots of yeast floaters are noted at the bottom. Thick three finger white head collapses leaving rolling hills of foam on top of the beer.
Aroma is initially reminiscent of a Hefe - notes of clove and banana fruits. Immediately kind of an oddity considering this is supposedly a marzen. However as the beer warms the banana becomes more muted and it takes on a malty profile with some carmelly sweet notes.
Taste definitely has some clove notes with wheat, barley, bread, caramel malts and what seems like some smoked malts? It has an ever so slightly taste of smoke ... checking the can ingredients, smoked malts are listed on the can so it seems that is in fact what I should be getting. As the beer warms its got some nuttiness to the malts along with a slight bitterness on the finish. Its not at all what you would expect to get from a marzen.
Feel is medium bodied, fleeting on the palate with a bitter finish that coats the throat. Moderate carbonation.
Overall this was an okay beer to drink by itself. To style it was kind of a disaster. Overall it was a miss.

Review to come (I'm in the middle of a party, and my wife complains when I start typing in front of her guests.... Good, they are gone and I can write a beer review.)
I don't disagree with a few reviewers in the Brotherhood of the Advent Calendar who say this has a hefe-fruity to it. But as it warmed, I liked it more. So, I give this a pretty good rating because it seems to push the envelope of the Bavarian-dominated Rules of brewing from the 16th Century that governs marzens. And these Austrians are entitled to do that... and besides, it is good to innovate lagers.
I was expecting to find an Austrian micro-. Turns out Schnaitl is just like so many of the German breweries represented in the Calendar, old school family breweries surrounded by picturesque farm landscapes. (So, I'm feeling like the Advent offers cultural lessons, too.) At any rate, the Schnaitl family brewery also has a hotel and a taproom in another town. But I get to cop a short review because I could not find the German translation button and could only look at the pictures.

Poured from 500 mL can into shaker pint glass. Exp 05/2021 stamped on the bottom of the can.
A: Pours a clear golden color with high carbonation fueling a 1 inch frothy white head with excellent retention.
S: Can smell the banana esters and clove a foot away. Caramel malt emerges with closer inspection.
T: Caramel malt with banana and clove. Clashes on the palate.
M: Light body. Caramel sweetness. Odd bitterness...not great balance.
D: Take a pass on this one. The banana and clove clashes with caramel malt.

500mL can, EXP 05/2021. #3 in the Costco 2019 Advent calendar. Hazy amber body with a tall and fluffy ivory head. Floral and yeasty aroma with banana and clove. Interesting flavors - kind of a cross between a hefeweizen and a märzen: toasty grain, caramel, wheat, floral citrus, banana, clove, bready yeast, spicy Noble hops. Medium body, moderate carbonation, semi-dry finish. This one didn't do it for me; the hybrid hefe-märzen was rather odd in my opinion.

Medium carbonation with a slightly thin body. The grain coats the tongue giving it a thicker feel in the end
Aroma is soft chewy yeasty bread, like challah or raisin bread.feint amount of spice, banana, herbs, and almost perfume or floral
At first it didn't impress but as it warmed it became more complex and was very enjoyable
