Proudly brewed on Baltimore Pike, Media, PA. Sterling Pig Brewery's Baltimore Pike Porter is a robust American-style Porter with rich notes of chocolate and roasted malts. Brewed with Chinook & Cascade hops, this smooth, medium-bodied brew has flavors of dark fruit & the slightest hint of bitter spice. We'd recommend enjoying this comforting ale on a cool night.

Brown opaque cola and a dark beige substantial head, hanging lace. Chocolate nose fresh scent. Thick wet cocoa flavor, sans bitter, is straight forward - pleasantly sufficient. The slowly moving warmth from the 5.8% is magnified from this 16 fl oz. can. Cannot go wrong with this brew selection - a thumbs up which finishes semi dry alongside a carbonation release.

16 ounce can poured into a pint glass. Born on 1/11/22, so plenty fresh for a porter.
L---Darkest possible brown, approaching black. Small tan head faded quickly to a ring with a cap. Very nice lacing.
S---Cocoa & dark chocolate. Light hops for balance, nice.
T--- Strong dark chocolate flavor. Roasty malts. Very light coffee if you look for it.
F---Thicker than the low ABV implies. Decent carbonation.
O---A nice one from a local I'm liking more and more.

Nice black coffee brown in color is the beverage now in a clear glass Imperial pint mug. It just exited a pint can. The head is a creamy looking dark beige. The aroma is all roasted malt, running toward a sweet side. It's got a nice rich body feel for a porter. Yes, it does run a little sweet, but there are some hops detected and the roasting brings out some bitterness from the malt. The body is strong enough to carry all of the tastes, but is nicely light across the tongue. A superb porter here, there are some Imperial Stouts that don't pack this much taste. The overall balances are near perfect and there's even a little glass lacing to stare at as the vessel is drained. The 5.8 % ABV is also a very nice fit.

A: Creamy dark khaki topping is two inches tall with a pillowy consistency. A good sense of golden micro-bead carbonation builds a spongy texture on the head. Nice coffee-ish pour is an inky black in the chalice. Big per style, stout like with a dark nature and beautiful colored topping. A final curtain call of full sheet coverage dresses the glass. The capping was fully lasting.
S: Milky dark and semi-bitter chocolate on the nose. Smooth roastiness, cocoa that is very strong and above par per style. Small smoky nature, charred woodiness with some dried dark fruit.
T: Sweet and juicy dark fruit fills the first sip. Lots of roasty creamer coffee quickly turns to a dried, charred and smoky wood bitterness and earthy charred pine hops. Roasted grains, with a dry powder creamer that was chalky on the leave.
M: Active and tingly carbonation on the tongue, A texture and feel that was very silty smooth. Creamy and lush, almost oat like, fluffy and light.
O: This porter straddles more towards the stout like qualities. Lots of burnt roastiness and dark malts, roasted hops, along with earthy campfire bitterness. Chalky creamer, and in no way feels like a 5.8% beer. The mouthful and palate has an exceptional, smooth and silty, light and fluffy creaminess. The first bite is bittering and dark, but mid-point the drink progresses to a very good and smooth drinking experience.

On tap at the brewery. Your basic porter. Good, roasty, with big coffee notes. Nice mouthfeel, drinkable, and pretty much appropriate all over for the style.
