This World Beer Cup Award Winning Pilsner is a true American hybrid. Our favorite Noble-style hops from the Pacific Northwest balance a subtle clean malt character in this pilsner-style gold.

In the clear pint glass after being drawn from a tap, it looks like a Pilsner. It's a nearly clear light yellow-amber with a modest just off-white head. There are more aromatic examples within the style, but what is there to smell is definitely Pilsner. The taste is fairly standard as well, Pilsner malting that brings a little nuttiness and some crisp hops for balance. The mouthfeel is slightly smoother than some, but it's also a little more sticky. The head left a nice ring inside the glass, but there was much more lacing. A bit sweeter than the best, yet this is an enjoyable Pils.

12 ounce can poured into a snulip glass. Born on 1/17/22, so fresh enough for me.

L---Not quite crystal clear, medium golden color. Medium white head faded quickly down to a cap and left nice lacing.

S---Aroma is light. But what is there are grains and grassy hops. Maybe a faint floral note.

T---Fortunately, stronger than the nose. Cereal grains. Distinctive pilsner malts.

F---Medium body with ample carbonation. Feels just right for a pilsner.

O---A bit inconsistent, but still a good beer. I'd have another.

A good version of the classic style, although the Pacific hops give a pine-citrus finish that mark it as American. However, the hops don't overwhelm the malt as they sometimes do in U.S. brews. Though I live virtually within staggering distance of the brew-pub, I had it from a can, which poured clear pale and golden, nicely carbonated. Not as bitter as a typical German, though not as sweet as a Czech. I could drink more than one in a session.

Smells like the Farm Show.
Not at all impressed.
Just not much going on and I can't get past the aroma.

I wanted to write a proper review of the “piggy beer,” as she called it. But it’s almost tautological after saying, “here is my review of a German style Pilsner.” Having lived in Deutschland for three years, this is indistinguishable from the good pilsners available there. It’s a perfect example of the style. Could it be better? Sure. If I was back in Heilbronn right now, in June, at a fest with a mug of local pilsner in my hand. But it’s exceptional, other things aside.
One note: do other PA beer and (especially) wine drinkers notice a hint of clover and/or honeysuckle in many beverages made here? Some Victory and Yards beers really show it. This even more so. Not at all bad but unique.

Look: Clear yellow with a foamy white head.
Smell: Earthy hop and sweet malt.
Taste: A bit of malt sweetness, but mostly dry/bitter/smoky hop flavor. Hints of lemon/grapefruit astringency.
Feel: Thin and clear.
Overall: An interesting Pilsner with a pleasant bitterness.

Sterling Pig Brewery "Shoat Pilsner"
12 fl. oz. can "BORN ON 10/22/19" and sampled on 11/19/19
$2 @ Wegmans, King of Prussia, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: Slightly hazy straw gold body beneath a short head of bright white foam. Aroma of Pilsner malt and floral and lightly herbal hops. The flavor follows the aroma with additional hop notes of woodiness and lemon. A stiff bitterness runs through its center, anchoring it and balancing the gentle sweetness of the malt and eventually leading to a mainly dry finish. Some additional spiciness and a little bit more herbal character linger in the finish. In the mouth it's medium light in body and gently crisp-then-smooth. Overall this is an impressive Pilsner with a pleasant uniqueness to it.

Had this on tap at Media, just a sample and was surprised at how crisp and tasty it was, since good pilsners are hard to find. No weird aftertaste, as so many have. Bought a Sixpack and both DL and I like it a lot, altho he not as much as me. He still always prefers Victory Prima. Well I will buy this again, but it does have to be good 'n cold! By the way growlers are very reasonable at this place, at $10.
