This has apparently been unretired and now checks in at an even seven percent ABV. It was served in a clear pint glass after being drawn from a tap. The ale is a semi-translucent rich and bright amber, with a modest and enduring white head. One amazing thing about Simcoe hops is how unbalanced the aroma to taste is. They barely give the nose much at all, then explode in the mouth. There's barely any aroma here, but there is taste. Now isolated, the characteristics of this hop can be better understood. It starts almost sweetly, changes to earthy, yet clean and then finishes dry and bitter. This is presented in a medium that is malty enough to provide some counterbalance, but more importantly, it provides a great body without interfering in the hop experience. Glass lacing designates each time some liquid was drained. This is a must try for anyone that likes Simcoe hops, or those that want to experience them. It's good to have it back.
