Sterling Pig Prague Hog presents with a faint yellow haze, below a white creamy froth head. Central bubbling effervescence. Pleasing fruit nose. Tasteful and poignant first bite. Think fresh citrus. Mouthfeel is easy peasy. Good warmth from 5.3%. Thumbs up on this fine brew. Semi dry finish.

12oz can received as a gift from a friend. No canned on date, but I think that he recently purchased it and it should be fresh.

Look: Pale gold color with a very faint haze. There was a finger of white head that dissipated to almost nothing. Carbonation looks good with lots of fine bubbles consistently rising up the glass.

Smell: Earthy hops on top of a sweet, crackery malt base. The beer has peppery notes on the finish. It also has more subtle floral notes. Subtle white grape and floral notes after smelling deeply.

Taste: Pretty tasty. It's crisp and clean with a firm, earthy bitterness that lingers long. There's also a strong herbal flavor that comes through, hard to pinpoint. Very peppery and kind of grassy. The bitterness is earthy and almost rubber-like. What I like is after the bitter notes finally recede, you're left with this very pleasant saltine cracker maltiness on the palate. It does take a while to get there though.

Feel: Pretty standard; it's on the lighter side of medium bodied. It's crisp and clean. The carbonation is there and it has a softness to it.

Overall: It may be a bit more aggressively hopped than most Czech Pilsners. Still pretty good though. I wouldn't mind if the beer had a bit more carbonation and better head retention.

From the can:
The Prague Hog is for days when you need something fresh and crisp. We'd describe this well-balanced Czech style Pilsner as earthy, clean, and satisfying.

12 ounce can poured into a tulip glass. No canning info given.

L---Clear bright gold color. Very big, fluffy white head faded slowly to a cap and left very nice lacing.

S---The can says fresh, crisp and clean. That's a good description. Hoppy and grainy.

T---Same as the nose...fresh, crisp, clean hoppy and grainy. I think they hit what they were aiming at.

F---Not as dry as I was expecting. But, again, crisp and clean.

O---An excellent one from a good local.
