Starting nicely, this is a good looking brew. A pint can poured into a clear glass Imperial pint mug reveals a rich, but dull, copper-amber ale. Dull and opaque, but this is supposed to be a hazy IPA. The just off-white head is modest and most of it doesn't survive very long. The hop/malt aroma is, like many in the style, subdued, but the best guess by the nose is that this will be citrusy, but softly so. Thankfully there's much more taste to offer than smell. There may be a little citrus aspect to the hopping, or is it pine? Sometimes hazies mute the bite so it's harder to distinguish. The lingering hop bite at the finish seems more like that piney aspect. What it is, moreso, is earthy and in a good way. It's certainly not too sweet and the finish is really nice, with its earthy and dry bitterness. This hazy hasn't sacrificed full tastes to bring its style to beer drinkers. If you drink the hazy styles because you don't like the boldness of tastes in a standard IPA, you may complain about how much of them are here.
