We're celebrating the long sunny days of summer with a delightfully refreshing Vienna Lager. Medium body, notes of caramel, and easy to drink all day long.

One needs to quaff this with the understanding it is a uniquely flavored vienna lager and not the usual run of the mill malt bomb. The most interesting characteristic of this beer is its nutty finish. Almost an almond/pistachio flavor. I found it odd that it is promoted as a summer beer because this for me would be a number one pick for an autumnal lager. Perfect for that season as it is a tad richer than summer lagers and pilsners which can often be a bit thin with good reason. I loved this brew and was astonished that is was less than 4 stars on untapped. If you want a caramel nutty rich lager...this is for you. But might be best in the fall.

Sterling Pig Brewery "Youse Thirsty?"
12 fl. oz. can coded "05/22/23" and sampled on 06/25/23
Notes via stream of consciousness: The main portion of the label lists this as a "Summer Lager" but in the text it points out that it's a Vienna-style lager. With that in mind let's take a look. It's poured a mainly clear deep-amber colored body with golden highlights beneath a finger's width of rocky off-white foam. The aroma is fresh with malt and a touch of floral and spicy hops. The flavor follows with even more malt character and it's clear that it's got a fair amount of toasty Vienna malt to it. I doubt it's 100% though as I'm also getting grassy Pilsner malt. The hops remain floral and spicy with some additional herbal character. A firm bitterness balances it and once the lightly toasty and caramelish malt has passed it dries, leaving behind a swirl of grass, spice, and flowers. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp with a standard carbonation. It's clean througout, superbly balanced, and nicely rounded with a variety of components that are all apparent and never outshine each other. I wouldn't normally think of a Vienna lager as a summer beer but it certainly works. Nicely done!

12 ounce can poured into a tulip glass. Canned on 5/26/22, so pretty fresh.
L---Just shy of clear with a nice medium amber color. Fluffy head faded slowly down and left very nice lacing.
S---Bready malts. Minimal hops.
T---Malty. Caramel and bread.
F---Medium plus body with good carbonation.
O---A nice take on the style. I like these Sterling Pig folks.
