surprised more folks havent written this one up, seems like the staple beer in house for these guys, and its a pretty good one. grainy, more than just wheat i suspect, almost milky in color and quite thick in texture, yeasty but not real funky or belgian, sort of an odd ale really, but also kind of rustic and awesome, i liked this a lot, although i also wasnt hankering for a second pint. very likely that there are some oats in here, this has a little residual sugar and a lot of body. i think the upbeat carbonation helps it still drink easy, but this is a pretty rugged beer. substantial enough in flavor to stand up to their robust burgers (the food here is awesome), with some hops on the back end. i really cannot place this yeast though, some sort of hybrid, its odd but it works in this beer. i dont think this is quite refreshing enough for the weather in kansas city this time of year, its a little thick for that, and it doesnt warm up all that well, but with their burgers its great, and its certainly a little left of conventional, even in the style, and i like it for that too. worth trying when you are in the westport area...

Pours a cloudy, amber color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of floral notes, yeasty tartness, slight hops, hint of pale malt, hint of grass, and citrus. Fits the style of a Saison / Farmhouse Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of yeast, slight floral, pale malt, slight sweet malt, hint of hop, slight citrus, hint of grass, and a hint of caramel malt. Overall, better than average, but the blend isn't quite right (too malty), and the appearance is weak.
