A 440ml can with a BB of Oct 2018. Purchased a little while back from Cost Cutter. The label mentions that this is a DIPA but otherwise doesn't give much away. The ingredients include oats. I wonder where the name comes from....
A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Can-conditioned. A very hazy rich amber hue that verges on opaque. Yields a huge head of frothy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.
S: Aroma of incredibly fruity hops with hints of citrus zest, peel, melon, white grape, subtle stone fruit, berries, grass, mild leafiness, earthiness, ale yeast and vague pale malt. Simply fantastic.
T: Tastes of exceptionally fruity hops with notes of grapefruit, citrus zest, peel, white grape, melon, mild tropical fruit, stone fruit, grass/hay, leafiness, earthiness, ale yeast and pale malt. Pretty dry, followed by a strident hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and good body. Quite astringent; hop oils stimulate the palate. Aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, citrus, grape, melon, grass, leafiness, earthy yeast and faint malt.
O: Superb - an excellent DIPA that delivers insane levels of hops. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are an amazing blend of intense aromatic hops, earthy yeast and subtle malt. Nice body. A palate destroyer that goes down all too easily. Well worth sampling if you have the chance.
