Had on tap at the brewery
On arrival 1 finger of bone white head was present that immediately leaves nice lacing. Retention isn't the best, but I won't complain with a decent cap left behind. Body is crystal clear and is a deep, but still yellow gold.
Aroma is sweet but in a way perfect for a summer evening. A juicy nectarine, backed by a slightly resinous piney hop aroma. There is a solid malt backbone backing up the sweetness, maybe a light touch of toasted malt.
Taste follows the aroma, but brings more of the resinous flavors and even a slight darkness out of the hops. Not the most bitter IPA, but certainly not a juicy/hazy. Super crisp and easy drinking. There is a slight mineralic note throughout but it almost adds to the fruity notes, I wonder what the water chemistry is in this beer. Bitterness does build over time, but is t overwhelming.
This feels full, but refreshing with a definite crispness. The finish is quite long, but attenuation makes for a nice contrast with the fuller malty finish, making me think this is using toasted malts even more.
Overall this was a very nice surprise of an IPA. Very unique take on a fruity WC style IPA. Crystal clear which I appreciate these days, and very drinkable.
