From the growler via the brewery in a snifter. This bourbon barrel imperial
stout pours a deep blackish brown with subtle brown highlights and a nice head of
khaki foam that settles to a thick ring, thin pooling layer, and showcases some nice light
lacing. Nose of bourbon, char, oak, mild vanilla, and a touch of brown sugars. Flavors
exceed the nose with a pretty hot bourbon note with a moderately heavy char and toffee
mingling with a medium strong grain note that is lightly touched with oak and a hint of vanilla
with warmth. Decent mouth feel; medium full body, a lightly coating, very warming, and
oddly enough a touch on the watery side for such a heavy stout that finishes with substantial
char notes mixed with oak and booze. Of note there are a few berry notes that enter the fray on
the taste with some warmth. Still a solid experience from a nice newer brewery to the Athens
scene.
Cheers
