Transient Artisan Ales
When approaching a collaboration with our friends at Transient Artisan Ales, we decided to combine two things we both love – hazy, dry-hopped beers and light, refreshing farmhouse ales. This beer combines a malt bill of Indiana-malted rye, Pilsner, and wheat with an over-the-top dose of Citra and Loral cryo hops.

Poured from 16oz can into Duvel tulip. A nice light hazy straw color with a 2 finger fluffy white head. Slowly came down; minimal lacing. Aroma of citrus hops , lemon zest, Maybe some grass and with floral smell. Nice light hop bitter up front follows with lemon zest, clove and grass with slight funk. Very light fruit hop finish. Feel is light and fizzy in my mouth that finished a touch dry. This is a well crafted Saison that is less funky and more hoppy.

16 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but is a recent release. Pours a fairly hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Good appearance. Aromas of big lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, red apple, passion fruit, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, white bread, and spicy rye; with lighter notes of pine, banana, clove, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and light-moderate pale/wheat/rye malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, red apple, passion fruit, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, white bread, and spicy rye; with lighter notes of pine, banana, clove, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy bitterness; and yeast/rye spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, red apple, passion fruit, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, white bread, spicy rye, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and light-moderate pale/wheat/rye malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and fairly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is an excellent hoppy saison! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and light-moderate pale/wheat/rye malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Nice Citra/Loral hop showcase. Great balance of vibrant/fairly dank hops and fruity/spicy yeast complexity; with a solid pale/wheat/rye malt backbone. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
