This double IPA is fermented with a special Norwegian farmhouse yeast strain called Kviek. Fermented in half the time and at temperatures in excess of 95 degrees that would cause normal yeast to produce off flavors, this DIPA features both flaked & malted wheat and a double dose of Citra, Loral, and Mosaic hops.

Bill: Indiana Wheat Malt and Flaked Wheat

Hops: Citra, Loral, & Mosaic

Yeast: Kviek Yeast

From an aluminum, sixteen ounce can, this brew is a milky, hazy, straw color with a white head. The aroma has a funky, musty, pungent smell....fruit and spice and yeast. The taste has some sprizy acidicness. There is some bitter hop notes in the mid taste. Full body. Interesting.

16 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but was just released. Pours very hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, red apple, passion fruit, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, red apple, passion fruit, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy bitterness; peppery yeast spiciness; and light wheat tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, red apple, passion fruit, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and minimal lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.5%. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and wheat malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV with the moderately bitter/spicy/resinous/drying finish, not too overly aggressive. Nice Citra, Loral, and Mosaic profile. Very juicy/dank/earthy hops and balanced Kviek farmhouse yeast; with a 100% wheat malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness from lingering dryness. A very enjoyable, and pretty unique style example. Not sure why they don't just label it as a Belgian IPA. There are plenty of breweries using the yeast strain in NEIPAs as well.

I received this from @bstyle in a trade. The can is undated. Poured into Spiegelau IPA glass. It pours a turbid muddy orange color with a half finger of creamy, bright white head and a thin coating of lacing that lasted through the pour. It has a nice, tart citrus aroma of lemon, lime, and grapefruit, along with orange peel, wheat, light pine, and floral hops. It has a really unusual flavor that begins with the Norwegian kviek yeast that adds a funky, sour taste to the tart citrus. There is also a dose of wheat cracker and a hint of orange/tangerine. The Mosaic and Citra hops add a lot of flavor but only moderate bitterness. The hop bill also includes Loral of which I'm unfamiliar. The effect is a tart, citrusy, slightly sour but bready ale. The mouth feel is full-bodied and creamy with moderate carbonation, and it drinks well below its 8.5% ABV. I'd swear it's a typo and should be 5.8% Overall, this is a really interesting - and really tasty - DIPA. It has a lemonade quality and would be great on a hot day. Based on the other ratings of Central State's offerings my rating is high but I think it's deserved. This is a really nice beer!
