Traded for this beer a few weeks back, as this was the first brew from Conclave that I had out of a can. Love the Gravitational Waves as it's a must-have when I see it on tap at the Cloverleaf but this wasn't too far behind it as it was smooth, tasty, and full of fruit. At the same time, this wasn't even close to feeling like an Imperial IPA as it went down easily with a lovely, tingly aftertaste.
The pour to this was golden, murky, and uniform in hue as there was a sufficient head topping it off. Not a lot of lacing was left behind as there were just scattered splotches that never formed any coherent rings. Lots of Sweet Malt, stone fruit, and candied citrus fruit in the nose as there was plenty of peach, apricot, sugary tangerine, and slick hop bitterness in the taste. A bit of an exotic feel in the taste as I couldn't quite pinpoint the Rakau but the tropical fruit and sweetness only grew as this fully warmed up. A good amount of oats were present given how full and chewy this was as the mango and chewing gum sweetness also emerged once I worked my way through this.
Thankfully, the level of booze in this was never enough to overtake everything else that was going on and ditto for the carbonation. No doubt that this was an interesting and complex beer that was worth taking the time with although the end result still had me guessing a bit. Canned on 7/24 with "FIF FIFFFFF" written below it, this left me wanting more well before the last sip. Nice job by Conclave, as I hope that more of their offerings will be easily found in this neck of the woods!
