a session take on their imperial saison dangereux, cool to have this on tap and have it be quite a bit more crushable, a similar high tone estery yeast profile, lighter on the grain side, almost more blonde ale barley based than farmhouse wheat based, but a mix of both to be sure, approachable and kind of simple past the yeast, but tidy enough and well made, even if it approaches the early end of the phenolic range as it warms a little, plenty of flavor here, it does hit kind of similar to the bigger original in its personality, just without some of the alcohol and residual sugar. insanely clear for the style, bright but very light yellow with an average white head from the tap. aroma and flavor are both yeast driven almost entirely, with strong green pear and green grape fruitiness, almost more belgian golden than saison with a lack of rustic character from anywhere, but that was true with the original too, and its a nice yeast profile anyway, shiny penny minerality, cooked citrus, light floral sweetness maybe a honey note but light as can be on the malt, soft coriander and white pepper to close but not spicy per se, easy drinking with adequate carbonation and actually less body than i think it kind of wants, but its close, more summer than winter on this one, but well done overall, for fans of the cleaner approach to the style...
