Ciao, amici! Sure you could wreck your palate with that fancy sports car of an IPA, but sometimes life is better enjoyed when you slow down, stop, and smell the terroir-ses... Capisci? 50cc is our take on a hoppy, crisp Italian-style Pilsner. What makes it Italian, you say? Well, this 50cc rolls with aromatic Italian Eraclea malt and a delicate union of super-Euro hops: French Strisselspalt, German Saphir, and Czech Saaz. Some hoppy beers roar like a V12, but some casually cruise with nuance and style. So grab a 50cc and hop on this zippy little scooter brew for those effortlessly elegant, sprezzatura vibes. Cin cin!

Grabbed a can of this and some other stuff while looking for some North Park cans at Windmill Farms. This was interesting to me as it seemed like a hoppy pilsner. Online description for this beer was “Ciao, amici! Poured a medium yellow clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of rocky-to-frothy white head. Could see some bubbles creeping up along the sides of the glass. Excellent foggy lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Lots of interesting things going on with the nose. Got Noble hop, black pepper, pear, lemon zest, apple, mint, herbal, menthol, green vegetable, lightly-toasted grain and pilsner malt. Even better out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. In order got Noble hop, mint, pear, apple, grass, herbal, menthol, black pepper, lemon zest, green vegetable, lightly-toasted grain and earthy pilsner malt. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium-to-light body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt finish. (Feel - 3.75)
An interesting pilsner. Glad I got to try it. (Overall - 3.75)

At 5.5%, Raul is feeling fine. And he agrees with the lil story on the can that supports that sometimes it’s just better to chill low and slow. I see so many dummies on the freeway zooming away in their muscle cars or wannabe race cars that sound like a lawnmower. Why be in such a hurry? Yeah, a lot of the time it’s best to just chill, take everything in, and realize the beauty that is. And right here with 50cc, Raul is gonna do that.
Peace.
