not as good as the one without coffee, this has most of the same features as its base beer of course, but for some reason i dont like the way the coffee interacts here. its acidic, maybe hot brewed or over steeped, but it seems to cut through some of that awesome body that it has. thankfully it also cuts a little of the sweetness, so there is a positive side to the trade off, but the mouthfeel is hurt by the coffee. maybe try another infusion method? i still am missing the yeast in here too, if this is a lager, i want it to be more apparent. the coffee does pull some of the earthy and nutty notes out of the dark malt that maybe werent quite as accentuated in the original, but its impact in that regard is small. the coffee seems light, like it doesnt contribute much to the roast or depth of the beer, and it has an almost stale aspect in the nose. overall still a real tasty porter, but the beer doesnt need coffee, or at least not in this fashion. i prefer the original, but would be curious to hear what others think. it seems to be made for a coffee spike, but it just hasnt turned out here the way i hoped it would.
