Tastes a bit different than a normal dunkel but it’s fantastic. Gotta try to find something like this in Chicago

12oz can from Yee-Haw Brewing Co. Fine Southern Beer from Johnson City, TN dated 01/11/24, I think. "Dark" lager 5.5% Alc/Vol. Served in a pint glass.

There is a little bit of roasty malt in the aroma. Flavor has a sweet caramel blended with the roast, and forms something like molasses. There's some bitterness, but not enough, and hop character is negligible.

I like the that the roasty malt flavor comes through, but there's no coppery Munich flavor, and the whole thing is just way too sweet for my taste.

Look: Pours mahogany brown, almost root-beer color with a quarter finger, rocky head of foam that fizzles away almost immediately and leaves no lacing on the glass.

Aroma: Nutella / hazelnut. Praline cookies. Some pumpernickel bread / yeastyness in the background.

Taste: Simple and straightforward. I get Irish soda bread and sweet toasted hazelnut with light hints of milk chocolate. Apparent toasted and roasted malt backbone, it's a little too much, bordering on stout or porter territory. There's a very subtle plum / red apple note somewhere in between it all. Restrained but apparent bitterness.

Feel: Dry with subtly fruityness. Mid weight with low, almost flat or tepid carbonation.

Overall: I liked this... but it was not true to the style. There's lots of toasted, roasted and burnt malt flavor. It's not bad, but not a true munich dunkel - which should be malty and not sweet... yet still dry but not with a prominent roasted malt flavor. Style guideline critiques aside, this was enjoyable for sure. An easy drinking and tasty beer, just not a true dunkel or rather just a slightly Americanized version of the style (but thats just my opinion of course)

Pours a dark mahogany with amber highlights and a thick tan head.

Caramel malt, nutty and citrus hops with earthy undertones.

Caramel and nut up front without any sweetness balanced by earthy hops with a touch of citrus. A nice rich malty brew that packs in a lot of flavor.

Dark brownish red. Medium white head.
Smells rich, dark brown bread, raisin, caramel, Munich malts.
Tastes semisweet, bready, light roasted grain, floral.
Medium dry finish. Really good, I like this better than any of the imports I’ve tried.
I hope it is available in my area someday. Highly recommended.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a very dark brown color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of dark breads, some chocolate. Taste is the same as the aroma, refreshing and easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

On draft, in shaker pint glass

Very dark brown, only a thin cream colored head. Toasty, a little chocolate in the aroma. Similar taste, moderately sweet. Medium bodied.

On tap at the BWW in Bristol, VA, served in a large weizen style glass

The beer pours a clear dark brown color with brownish/ruby highlights when held up to light and a moderate foamy tan head that slowly recedes leaving behind little to no lacing

The nose is bready and sweet with a fair amount of coffee and chocolate, and to a lesser degree caramel and toffee. There is also a bit of roasted malt character.

Like the nose, the taste is bready and sweet, with bits coffee, chocolate, caramel. There is also just the slightest metallic flavor. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall, a very nice beer. I really quite enjoyed the beer

I wouldn't buy it again at the store, but I would drink it again. It has a very smooth coffee like taste and is something fun to add in the rotation.
