This won the Bronze medal for a Dunkel style for a reason. Not to confuse it with a dubkelweizen, it is strong on the dark malt, chocolate, and coffee. Smooth and easy to drink for those that like the style. Not many to choose from in the American craft beer industry and this is one of the best!

With a extra dark mahogany color, it has rich coffee and sweet caramel and toffee flavors with a very pleasant roast. The aroma is similar to a creamy coffee to support its sweet rich coffee aftertaste, while the crisp carbonation rounds out the balanced body surprisingly well. Overall, this is a great example of the Dunkel Lager style of beer. I also recommend the Dark Cloud Dunkel from Mother Earth Brewing in North Carolina, as well as the Aegir’s Omen Dunkelweizen from Longship Brewing and the Dunkelweizen from Trader Joe's.

Had a pint at the Landshark Restaurant in Gatlinburg Tennessee. Pours a hazy brown color with reddish highlights and a small off-white head. Aroma is primarily toasted malt and sweet bready malt. Taste is more of the same: a crisp malty, slightly sweet beer. Mouthfeel is light and crisp. It goes down easy without any hint of alcohol. A nice, refreshing lager.

12 oz can from TN with no date that I can find.

Very dark brown body with a short-lived head.

Aroma: Caramel, light toast with hints of brown sugar and Boston Brown bread.

Flavor: lightly sweet with lots of caramel malts. Hints of toffee, brown bread and toast.

Feel: Medium+ body; medium-light carbonation. Smooth.

O: A good dunkel, even by German standards, with plenty of malt flavors.

Pours clear, dark brown in color with minimal head. Taste is toasted malt, brown sugar, and cream. Light bodied with moderate carbonation and sweet. Goes down way too easy. Would get this again.

Yee Haw Dunkel has a medium, creamy, beige head, a very dark brown appearance, and low-level glass lacing. The aroma is of roasted malt, syrup, and peat smoke. Taste is of smoky, peaty malt, smoked pork, sweet brown bread crust, and sugar. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Yee Haw Dunkel finishes medium dry.

I tried this at Buffalo Wings and Rings in Franklin, TN. It poured a nearly opaque dark with no head and no lace. The scent had some caramel and chocolate malt. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with mild roast being present. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer.

Draft pint at Hattie B’s Chicken in downtown Nashville. Cola brown, no head. Nice caramelly aroma but muted. Rich toasty toasty sunny caramel grain flavor. Earthy vegetal hops. An excellent Dunkel.

A great Dunkel. Nice coffee-chocolate aftertaste that lingers well.
