On tap at Lunkenheimer Brewing at Sodus Bay Bridge in Sodus, NY.
This one pours a golden brown color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells caramelly and bready – pretty classic notes for a marzen style.
This isn’t wildly memorable, but it’s done pretty well. It’s got a rich maltiness to it, without getting too sweet, but I don’t get that indescribable malt complexity that you sometimes get out of the best versions of this style. It’s just generally bready and slightly caramelly, but that’s ok.
This is medium bodied, slightly creamy, with a great mouthfeel to it. It’s nicely drinkable.
This was solidly average to above average, and in a world where there’s a lot of bad versions of this style, somewhere in the middle is just fine.
