Collaboration with Beachwood Brewing

Brewmasters Paul Segura and Julian Shrago aren’t just fair-weather friends. They came together when we — nay, the WORLD — needed them most. Yes, they’re here to lead us to clearer skies with this mouthwatering beer. Riders on the Storm is a West Coast IPA overflowing with tropical, floral, and citrus aromas from Amarillo and Mosaic hops. Brewed with white wheat for a smooth mouthfeel and honey malt for a touch of sweetness, this bright and zippy beer has everything you need to weather the storm.

Headed over the Windmill Farms to see what new stuff they had and came across this collab between Karl Strauss and Beachwood. Had heard about it but this would be my first time seeing it in stores. Karl Strauss’ website called it “Brewmasters Paul Segura and Julian Shrago aren’t just fair-weather friends. Brewed with white wheat for a smooth mouthfeel and honey malt for a touch of sweetness, this bright and zippy beer has everything you need to weather the storm.” Mentioned hops were Warrior, Amarillo and Mosaic.

Poured a medium amber semi-clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Could see just a few bubbles creeping up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Smelled herbal, menthol, sappy pine, orange rind, caramel malt, Warrior (thank you, Sierra Nevada), Amarillo, mango and tropical notes. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted a tad better than the nose. Got Warrior (thank you, Sierra Nevada), sappy pine, bitter orange rind, Amarillo, herbal, menthol, mango and caramel malt. Wasn’t getting much Mosaic. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Soft-to-average carbonation. Bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)

This one grew on me as it went down. Might have been better, but very good overall. (Overall - 3.75)
