Lovely shade of dark orangey amber with a modest foam in the Piraat tulip. Sweet with a candy touch, like caramel with grapefruit. Aromatic with something like fruitcake. Oatmeal with raisins.
Taste is a woody, sweet vermouth surprise. Even a little butterscotch. Bitterness comes on with some citrus peel, but is quite moderate, even vanishing from the aftertaste. Interesting and thoroughly different sort of DIPA. From the 32 oz growler filled at the brewpub.
