Is there such a thing as a health-beer? We're not sure either, but this one comes close. Beet juice is said to have numerous health benefits, including liver protection, improved blood flow, and a big dose of antioxidants among other things. We decided to brew a Biere de Garde with a giant beet presence. Local beets were added during the brewing and then juiced and added to the fermentation for a truly unique beet beer that may just keep you healthy as you're drinking. Drink your Beets!

enjoyed from the growler thanks Tim.
The color is deep purple with good clarity and thin pink head. The smell has more beet aroma than any other beer I have ever had that contains beets in the process.
This actually smells like fresh beets with an earthy smell and slight sweet vegetal character. The feel is med full with medium high carbonation and subtle sweetness with dry semi-bitter finish.
The taste is very good with beet taste that is fresh and full with earthen quality and light vegetal sweetness is present with slightly dry malt oriented middle and hop supporting with slight spice and there is a gentle vinous element from yeast perhaps while it finishes with some hop bitterness and a dry light quality. Overall I was impressed - first beer enjoyed by Hidden River and it is a very good Belgian style farmhouse with good use of beets- a good amount of flavor and the feel is very good also.
