This place is well worth the trip. Crammed into a historic (and haunted!) old lodge, they have two indoor bars with indoor seating spread out across several rooms, all with that colonial historic charm. There are two outdoor patio areas, and some lawn seating, plus a large grassy area next to the river that you can bring your own lawn chairs to enjoy. The outdoor furniture was of the cheap and worn-out variety, as to be expected with the chill beer garden vibe.

You order drinks and food at the bars, and get a number to bring back to your table so they can bring out food to you. The staff is all generally pretty good, some more attentive than others.

The beer is top notch. The majority of the handles are NEIPAs. When I was there they also had a flavored imperial stout, a coffee stout, an ESB, a cream ale and a cider. I believe the serving size on all of them was 10oz, but I may be mistaken.

The food is great farm-to-table type stuff. Got a quiche with a side salad; a pretzel; and a cheese plate for our table. The cheese plate not only had great cheese, artisan bread, honey and blueberry jam, but also a couple different types of cherries, seeds and several different edible flowers. Charming and delicious.

I went on a beatiful Saturday evening in the summer and the place was packed, but they had enough staff on hand to keep everything moving efficiently.

My only complaint is about their online presence. If you want to see the food menu, visit their Facebook page and look at the first comment under their first post on each Thursday. That is literally where it is hidden. To divine what's on tap, go back and forth between their recent Twitter and Instagram postings.

If this was closer I'd be there all the time. Even at an hour away, I plan to visit often.

In a gorgeous old (I mean REALLY old) stone house along the Schuylkill River. Lots of parking behind the barn. Entrance to the bar is on the side away from the road. Limited seating in the bar area, but lots of deck space and a couple of lawn chairs scattered about. Grab your choice at the bar and wander outside to watch the dogs and kids ply in the yard. Bar staff was very friendly, efficient, and knew their beer. I didn't try the food. I'll be back!

If only they did not have the "I am better than you" attitude I feel like this could be a great spot. Their regulars are fiercely loyal. Do not criticize anything about this place to them. If you have the hipster sloppy beard, you will fit right in. I will not be back.

Stopped here with some friends for a ghost tour. The taproom was open and you could get a good amount of different beers they make before taking the tour. The service was very good, the selection was pretty good too. The vibe was really quite nice, you won't see the entire place unless you do the ghost tour I'm guessing. All in all, cool spot.

Hidden River is one of my favorite beer spots in the Greater Philadelphia area. The drive there is beautiful, along the Schuylkill river and land chock-full of history. The place is beautiful, old, cozy, slightly creepy and maze-like. Plenty of room to roam and chill.

The beers are fantastic. They specialize in IPA's, hazy and juicy and fruity. But they have plenty of styles... sours, brown ales, imperial stouts, weird ales and you name it and they brew it. They rotate their beers often, which I appreciate.

Food is good too, simple-but-tasty fare made with all-local ingredients. And the servers are always nice and friendly, even when there is a line at the bar. Yes, it can get pricey here... but I feel like it is always worth the splurge.

Brewery is in the historic Brinton Lodge building. There is a bar in one of the rooms inside, plus a few other rooms to sit at tables. Nice outdoor deck with an outdoor bar. They had 12 beers inside, 4 outside. They serve a limited menu, but not on Sunday. BYO food on Sundays.

The taplist was diverse and some had interesting ingredients. All of the beers I drank were of good quality. Bartenders were friendly and helpful.
