Hidden River Brewing Co. "The Turtle's Beating Heart"
on tap at the brewery on 1 April 2017
Look: Very hazy yellow with an orange-ish cast beneath a short lived head of bright white. It drops to a thin collar rather quickly as is usual with sour beers.
Smell and Taste: It smells and tastes a little like soured orange juice... a little chalky, a little "vitamin" like, and with some other fruit mixed in there... lemon plus something else. The bitterness level is quite low but it's hardly needed as it simply transitions from start to finish in pretty much the same way, eventually ending, dry, acidic, chalky, and fruity.
Feel: Light-medium in body and crisp with a fine-bubbled, moderately zesty lightly-effervescent carbonation.
Overall: Quite an interesting beer in itself although it's not complex beyond what I've mentioned. Refreshing and enjoyable.
