Draft at brewery. Opaque copper color, fuzzy head. Strong aroma, reaches the nose from the table, woody, fruity. Taste is tart, cherry, plums, woody. A healthy pucker on this one. Wonderful Flanders!

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/1/2017. Pours lightly hazy reddish orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big tart cherry, cranberry, raspberry, raisin, plum, apricot, lemon, lime, green apple, melon, red grape, red/white wine, toasted oak, hay, straw, grass, pepper, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of roast, oaken vanilla, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast, dark/bready malts, and moderate oak notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart cherry, cranberry, raspberry, raisin, plum, apricot, lemon, lime, green apple, melon, red grape, red/white wine, toasted oak, hay, straw, grass, pepper, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of roast, oaken vanilla, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tartness, yeast/oak spiciness, and wine tang on the finish. Lingering notes of tart cherry, berries, raisin, plum, apricot, lemon, lime, green apple, melon, red grape, red/white wine, toasted oak, hay, straw, grass, pepper, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, nuttiness, vanilla, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast, dark/bready malts, and moderate oak flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sourness and yeast/oak spiciness balance; with no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tart/sourness, yeast/oak spiciness, and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 7.5%. Overall this is a fantastic Flanders red ale! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast, dark/bready malts, and moderate oak flavors; very smooth and easy to drink; with the modestly lactic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Very well rounded fruity/funky Brett and Lacto complexity; great dark/bready malt balance, and nice oak foeder presence. Never overly sour/lactic. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. One of the better ones I have ever had.

Looking to the rudamentary brewing traditions in the Flemish region of Belgium, the brewers at Little Fish devise a complex, sour, savory and vinous ale that nearly rivals the quality and charm found in Rodenbach, Steenberge and Omer.
Maker of Things comes russet brown and with an overcast of burgundy and maroon. Hazy and frothy, the beer's appearance carries a visual weight that's a strong juxtaposition to its taste. But first, its tangy aroma casts an array of fragrances from white wine, cherry, oak, toast and pepper ahead of a taste that's laden with pulled candy, stone fruit, robust red wine, toasted nuttiness, steely caramel and with even a hint of chocolate.
As the ale fully saturates the tastebuds, its red wine influence takes on the savory, controlled oxidation that's responsible for balsamic, maraschino cherry, sherry and nutty oak. Bordeaux wine mixes with the strong peppery character that's straight up black pepper, but with the tannins of oak, the soft pectins of cherry and a bready elegance of marzipan in finish.
Medium bodied, Maker of Things retains a creamier texture than is classic for the style. Its breadiness brings a cobbler-like taste to the late palate while its malty dry, short aftertaste is laced with cherry and balsamic once more.

Pours hazy brown, reddish tint. Head is yellowish white, fine, and firm.
Smells of citrus, green apple, apple cider vinegar, brett, and oak.
Tastes of very tart citrus, cider vinegar, coriander, brett, grassy malt and oak.
Medium body with tingles of carbonation on the tongue.
This is a pretty exceptionally good beer in the Flemish tradition. Maybe the best I have had not from there. A must try for fans of Flemish sours.

750 ml bottle, Batch B010, bottled on 7/2016. Served in a tulip, the beer pours a hazy reddish/copper color with about an inch and a half off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like tart cherries and apples, oak, and a bit of sweet berries too. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also a bit of earthiness and citrus peel noticeable. Just like the aroma, I think it mostly tastes like tart fruit (dark fruit/apples) with some sweet fruitiness too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's easy to drink with a good amount of carbonation. I thought it got better the longer I drank it, glad I bought this. I need to try more Little Fish brews soon! $16.99 a bottle.
