Bottle at RBSG 17 Grand Tasting, courtesy of JStax. Light yellow and murky, small bubbly head. Plenty of saison notes blindsided by the sour funk.. Really should be a wild ale. Floral, grassy aroma and taste rounded out with light citrus, but the sourness kind of threw me.

when i had the first sip of this funky saison i thought it was excellent, but after spending a little more time with it, it got kind of stinky as it warmed up, the funk in the yeast turned into a cheese sort of element, and it just fell apart a bit. i kept trying to get it back to its first sip glory, but the more i tried to enjoy it in that way, the more i picked up elements that turned me off and i couldnt get it back. a real simple malt base, some white and maybe raw wheat and pils might be all, and slightly hoppier than some of its peers, lemon and lime notes, fresh tasting. its the yeast that goes weird on me, starting european and a little bretty, but quickly turning to cardboard, cheese, and staleness, it seems sloppy and cheap, and nowhere near as good as the dry, crisp, and bright yet mature barrel aged poisson these guys do. i may have just picked up something faint, found it unflattering, and let it kind of ruin the beer for me, but maybe also this would be more appealing to others, it is not obviously flawed to me, i just cant dig this yeast profile after a couple of sips...
