From a growler via the brewery in a snifter. This interesting little ale pours a medium
dark brown with cola highlights and a nice head of off white foam that subsides to a
thick ring, thin light layer, and showcases some nice light lacing. Nose of light farmhouse
yeast, subtle grassy hops, a touch of chocolate, and a lightly tart note of fruit. Flavors follow
the nose with light exceptions. Subtle chocolate notes are bashed about by farmhouse funk
with grassy hops mingling with a light tartness that is touched with mild tart cherry notes and
subtle black pepper notes with a touch of smoke on the rear. Decent mouth feel; medium body, medium
light carbonation that is lively, and a touch of smoke on the rear.
Overall, a solid hybrid black saison.
Cheers
