Sour red ale aged in an oak foeder, further aged in Tawny Port barrels.
This extra-special batch of Maker of Things was aged 18 months in our American Oak foeder, and then spent an additional 2 years in tawny port barrels, which added deep layers of vinous and French oak-derived flavors. It was then naturally bottle & keg-conditioned for 4 months before we deemed it ready for release. Enjoy.

Bought this bottle at the brewery - batch B103 that was bottled 11/23/21. Deep, clear amber color (poured carefully to keep the sediment in the bottle from rousing). Nose of red wine and oak (can't say it's port wine and the label just references red wine), and the taste is similar with a good barrel character and a dryness. This one is moderately sour and is close to the only other Flanders Red that I've had.

Bought this beer at the Root Cellar near Cincinnati.
Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Murky reddish mahogany color with nice initial beige head and good curtain lacing. Smell and taste of robust red wine and tart strawberries. Rustic oak background. Pleasantly tart with raspberry, some vanilla and warm spices. Smooth, full feel. I enjoy beers from this brewery.

16.9 ounce bottle, Batch B091, bottled on 10/22/20. Served in a Little Fish Teku, the beer pours a kinda murky reddish/copper color with about a half inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. The brew smells like Port, oak, red wine/grapes, cherries, red berries and a bit of apple. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some citrus peel and earthy flavors. I think the Port, cherry and berry flavors stand out here. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. If you like Flanders Red ales and/or Port barrel aged brews, then pick this one up!
