Pours a deep amber to pale burgundy red coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of doughy, slightly grainy malt and estery fruit notes of red apple and berries, as well as hints of hibiscus blossoms. Taste is a great balance of doughy, slightly grainy malt and estery fruit and hints of spice, with notes of red apple, gooseberry, black pepper and clove, as well hints of hibiscus blossoms and a quite subtle underlying tartness. Finishes with a light tartness and some esters and hibiscus lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
While the hibiscus is definitely noticeable here, it seems a bit subtle, which is probably a good thing though, as I think that this is a flavor that can easily become overwhelming. It also works rather well with the estery fruit and spice notes, creating a well-balanced, fruity, dry and slighty tart, floral and spicy flavor profile with a light malt sweetness that gives a very refreshing, yet satisfying feel to this. Overall, this makes for a quite enjoyable Saison beer with a subtle complexity while still drinking rather easily and refreshing.
